Current European research shows that a flexible approach to learning is favoured by a growing number of students who need to fit working life within the framework of learning new skills; in addition, older members of the workforce wish to engage in life long learning. For many people full-time attendance at a local training organisation is problematic due to disability, geographical location or working patterns. The aim of the project is to develop Educational Podcasting (audio/media broadcasting over the internet) to enable these learners to gain knowledge through part-time attendance whilst maintaining the personal support of a tutor.

The six partners, from Greece, Italy, Latvia, Romania, Poland and the UK have met regularly over the life of the project to develop the product, evaluate activities, plan tasks and resolve issues. In the second year of the project, trainees have also been involved in these meetings to ensure the successful piloting of the project. Effective communication between meetings has be ensured via e-mail, video conferencing, on-line meetings and a project blog.

The majority of the podcasts that are presented in this blog, have been developed by the students of the project which have enhanced their technological together with their cultural skills.

  3. Hello everyone!
I'm Kasia and as you could see a few posts ago I'm a leader of our group. I'm not sure if i am able to handle it properly so i hope we'll help me to do our best!
Do you have any suggestion about the name of our team? :)
I'm pleased to hear some :D

Yeah, Chris. We have to talk about all things and problems here :)

    Take care.

  4. Hello everybody I am Lucian, nice to meet you all I'm from Romania nice to meet you all.
Kasia i have no idea for now for a team name how about we combine initials from our country's to make a team name ???

    ReplyDelete
  5. Hi all x) My name is Arthur Grundulis, and I’m too from Latvia.
Hello Kasia, I think that you will be a great team leader! =)
Here is some team names that I thought will be nice: “Shooting Stars” , “Spider Pigs”, “Funky Monkeys”, “The International Foulers”. =D I think, that we can do some kind of voting to choose the our new team name…

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hello everyone! (:

Firstly, Lucian and Arthur nice to meet you!
    Welcome to the blog!
I'm afraid Arthur that your group is the group number one...

Secondly, I liked the idea of combination with initials of our countries and EU as well.
Well, anyway i opt for "The International Foulers" for now.
    We can create other name.

    Next issue. Cultural Podcast.
What do you think we could inlude in podcast?
I thought about cuisines, one season of the year (e.g. winter) and the most interesting activities connected with it.
What other curious things can you think of?

I remind, we have only 1o minutes of recording. So it is about 2 minutes for each of countries (the UK, Greece, Romania, Republic of Latvia and Poland).

P.S. Chris, i've got a question for you.
Who is Jamie Clynes from the UK? Is he repleacing someone in the project?

Well, i'm looking forward for your ideas and opinions :)

    Regards,
    Kasia xX

  7. Well lets see the thing is that how can we do the cuisine thing cause mostly cooking traditional meals will take a lot of time effort and money. So we have to think of one meal from each country that we represent so what can we do ?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Well, Lucian I meant just talking about cuisine in each of coutries. We don't need to prepare anything. We have to create a comparison and talk about it for 10 minutes in the podcast.
So think of any things we have not in common and we can share with other people :D

    ReplyDelete
  9. oh sorry i got the wrong idea. So we have to talk about our countries the difference between them.Hmmm.... i got a question are we the team that meets in Greece?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hello,
Where is everyone? The podcast cannot be created by two people but we need everybody to get involved into our project! :)

So Lucian, tell your friends to join.
And the other thing - i can see you misunderstood the idea. But don't worry.

Well... i'm coming up with the next idea.
How about talking about personality of our societies? I think we are different so everyone would be able to say something interesting.

To sum up, in my opinion the ideas for the podcasting no.1 could be:
    * cuisines (traditional dishes)
    * one season of the year (funny/ interesting /extraordinary acitvities connected)
    * features of our societes

If anybody has some other ideas - share!
If anybody wants to change something - let me know.
I guess, we should start writing a script as soon as possible to keep ideas in one place.

P.S. Lucian, yes we are the team and we are supposed to work together in Greece. But we need to start working earlier - here, in our working area - as a preparation.

    Regards,
    Kasia xX

  11. Hey everyone, sorry I havn't been able to get on the blog during the weekend.
I think Jamie Clynes is from another college or uni in the UK who will be joining us.
For the podcast they all sound like great ideas. I will keep up to date with the blog this week and will think of some more ideas for us to possibly use.

    Chris.

  12. Hey everyone. I've spoken to Barrie today about the blog. He asked if Roberts could get Andris to access the blog.

He also asked if Barbulescu could get Zavloschi to access the blog.

P.S. Kasia, the ideas are great for the podcast. I had the idea of maybe activities in the community of the countries.

    Thanks, Chris.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Kasia,

I have had a word with Barrie. Chris is trying to sort out your team (see post above)

Could Arturs please get out of Team 2 and into Team 1.

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hello everyone,

Thank you Chris and Dale for talking with Barrie! :) I hope that soon we will get more people to cooperate with.

@ Dale - I told Arturs to move to your team so I think he will be communicating in your area next time :)

@ Chris - fill me in what you mean by those activities. It might be a good idea :)
We also need to remember that you have got approximately 2 minutes per each person.

We still do not have any name of our team.
Some idea came up to my mind lately. What about 'CLEVER CATS'? :D

Let me know what you think.

    Kasia xX

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sounds funny interesting serious and cool in the same time. I agree on the clever cats.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hello everyone,

@ Kasia - I'm not too familiar with Clever Cats, is it to do with the videos on YouTube? :p
By activities I mean what is available for people to do in the community they live in, for example leisure centres.

    Chris.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hello everyone,

@ Chris - Well, we could include your idea if we find out that we have such interesting activities to offer in our countries :)
    I guess it's possible.

As about 'Clever Cats', it was just my idea. The name is not connected with anything.
I just like cats :D And ideas that we have to create through the project make us clever... ;)

I'm also worried because it's still only three people out of the whole team! :(

  22. Hello everyone,

Welcome to the group Robert and Mihai.

Today over Skype chat, Kasia, Barrie and I agreed that I will be creating and uploading a script template on Friday evening at the very latest.

The script I have uploaded is not be a final, but an example version just to make sure everyone has a good idea about the type of script we will be writing.

At the moment we plan to use the following ideas:

    * cuisines (traditional dishes)
    * one season of the year (funny/ interesting /extraordinary acitvities connected)
    * features of our societes

If anyone has any ideas about what we as a group could include in the 10 minute podcast, just post them on here :) - also if anyone has any ideas of what they would like to say in the podcast.

Here is an example of the script (We are limited to only 2 minutes each as the podcast can only be 10 minutes in length. The person speaking doesn't have to follow each topic in the order shown, this is just an example):

  25. Hi everyone,

Firstly, nice to see that the other people joined our team finally :) Welcome in the team number two Robert and Mihai!
I want all 'new' people to go through our ideas above and either accept them them or not.
If anybody has any other idea - write, please.

@ Chris - Well done, Chris!
Now i can see how the script looks like :D
I think we should start writing the script asap. Obviously i will help you with this.

    Other crucial things:
    * name of our team! - we still do not have any.
    * topic of the second poscast.
Has anybody got any interesting idea already?
We are requested to choose some serious issue to talk about, aren't we?

Well, think about all points, please. We're running out of the time as so we need to work hard from now.

    Have a good evening! :)

    Kasia.

  27. If people could post what they would like to say on the podcast we can start writing the script. We're quite behind and also have a second podcast to create I belive.

  28. Hi Chris,

I'll post what I want to say about Poles soon.
    You can create your part.
    Then we're fine.

Any idea about the second podcast?

Do we have some people in the team who are able to create/mix the music?

I'm about to give up working for this project if anyone doesn't join the blog soon.

Hope you get through our ideas and find out what we're planning to talk about in the first podcast.
I reckon that experience in Athens will be great! :)

  33. Hello I am Dominic from Greece and you can check my profile in the "Personal Profile" section. I read the comments above and here is my idea.

Today it's Wednesday. Let's say that everyone on our team will do a post in this conversation area stating:

    1. "Name of the team" ideas.
    2. Subjects for the 1st podcasting.
    3. Subjects for the 2nd podcasting.

Everyone must send this post until Friday. On Friday I can create polls and we can vote for those matters until Sunday night. Doing this, on Monday we will be able to know our name and the subjects we will talk about in the 2 podcasts. Anyone who sends his/her ideas until Friday night, they will count.

Kasia, if I have understood something wrong let me know.

    Many hellos to everyone!
    Dominic!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I start with my 1,2,3 and hope that everyone in our team will do the same!

    1. eu-Pods "the idea paraphrases the word i-pod :)" , The Kasians "tribute to our leader :)"

    2. Cultural Subjects for the 1st podcasting: "Gestures". Each country has different hand and body gestures to express different things.

    3. Subject for the 2nd podcasting: "Love songs", new songs from each country that express love. topic of radio show: love. OR "funny songs", topic of radio show: Satire in our countries.

Kasia, if some of the ideas that we post are not valid or inappropriate please let us know!

let's gather all the 1,2,3s !!! My regards, Dominic !

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hi Dominic,

Firstly, I can see you didn't go through our previous posts carefully.
We talked about podcast number one and decided until now that we're going to speak about:
    * cuisines (traditional dishes)
    * one season of the year (funny/ interesting /extraordinary acitvities connected)
    * features of our societes (personality)

As for 'Gestures', we could attache that information in the last topic (features).

Secondly, the second podcast. We were requested to prepare some serious topic so we cannot talk about songs.

I thought about adapting to the cultural different environment (e.g. how to work in a team with people from all over the world).
And the other idea which can be connected with the first: how we face to stress/ how we are able to reduce the stress :)

Let me know what you think!

And one more thing, Dominic you can't set any deadlines. Some people didn't even join to the blog.

    Best regards for everyone,
    Kasia.

P.S. @ Dale - do you know what is the reason that we did not speak today through Skype with Barrie?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Kasia,

firstly, by reading the previous posts I didn't understand that we reached a unique decision since not all members of the group answered that they were agreeing with the ideas that you mentioned above. a poll would help this proccess. But you are the leader so we are going with your decision!

As far as what concerns the second podcast, I think a link between the songs we hear and the conversation we have would be useful, what do you think of that?

moreover, since there are no deadlines how we decided about the subject of the 1st podcast? we should have some deadlines in order to be able to be ready when we meet in Athens.

    Best regards for everyone,
    Dominic!

    ReplyDelete
  37. @ - Dominic - We haven't reached a FINAL decision yet bc not everyone posted their ideas here, on the blog. But we needed to make up our minds for sth. This is the reason we chose those three options above to talk. Don't worry it's changeable.

Anyway, It's not my fault that people from our team don't involve in working here.
We're running out of the time and some decisions have to be made.
We are far behind the schedule.

I don't want anybody to think that I'm rude or something but try to understand me. I want to create the script and no one writes anything. I do not have power to encourage people to do this.
Now, i'm glad that you joined the blog eventually, Dominic.

So we need to work as hard as we can now.
Could you write more about your idea of the second podcast?
I think it would be great if we could put some music in the podcast. But i have no idea if we have anybody in the team who is able to do this.

    Regards,
    Kasia.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hello everyone.

Kasia, I will be able to add music to the podcast when we've recorded it. I use a program called Audacity which allows you to combine multiple audio layers.

The ideas sound great, have we come to a final decision on what the script should be about?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hello Chris,

I'm delighted that we're starting to do sth finally! :)
I don't know about ideas and the final decision. I think there were OK but if anybody wants to change sth that's fine.
But we'd rather should be focusing on the topic of the second podcast I suppose.

Waiting for Dominic to reach an agreement :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Good afternoon to all of you!

OK, about the second podcast. Since Chris says we can combine music in our podcast, then I think it would be a good idea to have a subject to talk about that is connected to the music. for example, our subject could be "songs on historical events in our countries". we could hear the songs and meanwhile we could talk about those historic events. write me what do you think of that.

as far as what concerns the 1st podcast, do we have enough time to speak about all three subjects for each country in only ten minutes?

let's all get involved! many greetings from athens :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Don't worry Dominic, it's still only three people (including you) from this team who is doing something for the project.
So we have the right to decide.

Well, idea about gestures was great, but i thought about it and it could be difficult since we don't create a video but an audio podcast.

We have five countries so everyone has got about 2 minutes to speak :)
We need to organise our time or just remove one topic of the first podcast.
I will try to post my part tomorrow and then I'll realise if we have enough time.
But i need to know if you agree with ideas or not, Dominic :)

I would like another people to express their opinion about the second podcast but they never joined the blog... :(

We definitely are going to mix music with our voices :)
But I'm not sure if i want to talk about historical event... :D I like history but we should talk about something that will make our listeners interesting in it.

    Regards from cold Poland (:
    Kasia.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hello again Kasia and Chris and all the other people in our team that NEED to become active! :p

About the 1st podcasting, Kasia post here your two minutes script in order to make a decision if 3 topics are ok or a lot for 2 minutes.

About the second podcast, is there any other idea where we can combine the subject we will talk about with the music we are going to play? Let's gather ideas!

    Regards from hot Greece :)
    Dominic!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have a stupid question - what information about me i realy need to show here?

    ReplyDelete
  44. @ Dominic - I'll post my part soon. I'm a bit busy with English and it takes a lot of my time.
I cannot think about the other idea of the second podcast at the moment. I wrote above my idea but i suppose it's not possible to put music in this topic :)

@ Travis - Are you in our team? :)
Well... what do you exactly mean? You just have to say a few sentences about your country (e.g. the most popular meal)
It's not a big deal. Something which you can share with people from foreign countries and make them interested in :)

    Best regards for everyone (:
    Kasia.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Alrighty... as I promised here is my talk for the first podcast :) :

    * cuisine:
#1: A traditional polish main dish is pork chop with boiled potatoes and sauteed cabbage. Special spices make a great taste of each dish.
In the past people tend to eat two meal as a dinner. A soup was the first so I can think of chicken soup made from chicken (as the name says), carrot and parsley. It is served with pasta.
One of the most delicious dessert might be either cheesecake or poppy seed.

    * season:
#2: I reckon that the best season of the year to talk about is winter.
During school time you always get 2 weeks break and it's great opportunity to go to the mountains (on the south of Poland) and try to learn skiing or snowboarding. We also have some custom to make a snowman from snow. We make it from e.g. three balls of snow and put some pot on the head.
Snow brings a lot of joy to children.

    * personality:
#3: Poles are believed to be the most drinking people in the world. But i would rather say that we usually are ambitious and hard-working.
We sometimes tend to complain about every little thing. Generally we are very hospitable society. Of course, we cannot generalise. Everyone is different and there are many stereotypes so the best way is just to meet Poles and realise what the truth is.

Now i want our language support to correct all mistakes i've made! I'm not a master in English YET but i'm doing my best to be which is impossible :X :D

And here is a task for the rest of people:
Please, do the same about your countries so we can finished the script and move on to thinking about the second podcast.

I forgot, we still do not have a name of our team.
Dominic, I don't know if you had read but I thought about 'Clever Cats' (:

    Have a great weekend everyone!
    Kasia.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I will put here some photos at next weekend i think when i'll have new haircut ;) and of course info about me.
Kasia, you realy want to make podcast about countries or this is necessary? I simply have some ideas about themes for PC(podcast)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Travis, share your ideas with us :)
We migh use them for the second podcast.

Well, yes. We have to make the first podcast about differences in our societies. Barrie posted some podcast with instructions so I recommend hearing it :)

    Regards,
    Kasia.

    ReplyDelete
  48. P.S. To everyone:
As about second podcast we are asked to create some seriuos podcast e.g: equality in workspace.
In my opinion putting some songs is not a good idea.
However we can use songs as a backgroud, that's fine then.

Let me know what you think about my ideas that i posted above and share yours as well.
    We don't have time.
Don't forget to write yur parts for the first podcast. It's not a difficult task.

    (:

    ReplyDelete
  49. our country is a place of mass coruption and finance crisis, It will be a big task to write something good about it, but I will try =)))

    ReplyDelete
  50. Well, food and activities don't need to be show in a bad way :)
I'm pretty sure you'll manage to find some good aspects of people's characters :)
Which country are you come from anyway? Are you sure you're in team number two? :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. yes, i'm need to be in team two with Babsi, we are from Latvia =)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Great, could you please tell your friend to join the blog? :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hey everyone.

Kasia I have added your part to the script, it sounds really interesting :)

Looking forward to reading everyone elses.

Once the script is done I can upload it here.

If people don't write what they want to say I will leave space at the bottom of the script for them to add to, when we meet in Athens.

    Good day everyone :D

    Chris.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Chris - thank you. I hope you corrected all my mistakes so my talk won't be complete crap! (:
I also believe that you have written your part already :)

I would like other people to write their parts before we meet in Athens. I'm not sure if we have enough time to do this there and it's not such difficult task.
In my opinion it's even more comfortable to write it at home :)

    How about the second podcast?
I'm posting my ideas again in case nobody can find them:
    * adapting to the cultural different environment (e.g. how to work in a team with people from all over the world)
    * how we face to stress/ how we are able to reduce the stress :)

It has to be a kind of a radio show so we need to organise things such as: who will be a presenter, will we put some music, etc.
But i'm afraid i'm left alone again... :(

    Regards,
    Kasia.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Kasia - I think your ideas for the second podcast sound great. Maybe when we talk about stress we could include something about how we relax after School/College/Uni.. for example what we do at home.

When recording the website we could possibly create a playlist to listen to whilst recording, or we could even record the radio show first and add music later.

    Chirs.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hello everyone again!

I am writing with numbers just to organize my thoughts.

    1. I think it would be better when we make the second podcasting to have the music while we talk. If we record it later, it is a whole different type of podcast. I mean that we won't feel like being on a radio show.

    2. About the 2nd podcast I have written some ideas above. But I think Kasia said that are not proper so I guess we are going with what she wrote on her last post.

    3. In the next days I will definitely going to post my part for the 1st podcast. Kasia, your part was great :)

    4. Name of the team? I made some suggestions, if you don't mind tell me what you think.

If I forgot to talk about any subject that concerns our team, please let me know.

    Many regards,
    Dominic

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hello everyone,

    1. I agree with Dominic that it would be perfect if we could have music in background while talking :)

    2. About the second podcast. We need to find some topic connected with workspace so we don't have to use my idea if they're not proper.

    3. Chris, sure it's great idea to include some information how we relax. It's the answer of reducing stress.

    4. About the name of a team we could have either 'Eu-Pods' or 'Eu-Mates' actually :D
Otherwise we'll just name our team "yellow team" or sth :D

    Have a good day! (:
    Kasia.

    ReplyDelete
  58. P.S. Dominic - i'm glad you liked my part of the first podcast :D Can't wait to see your.
I forgot to mention about solidarity but I guess it's enough :)

  60. I think this can be my part of PC, what you can tell me about it? I've invented this from Kasias example and take some ideas from RWJ wrom youtube, i think it's not so bad, but i give it to you for dismemberment..../

#1: One of traditional latvian dishes is 'bread soup', which is simply made of bread and water, for better taste you can put in raisins, apricots, prunes and cloves. For Ultra taste (i can't eat without it) you can put in whipped cream or even icecream.
#2: Latvia may be does not have a lot of holidays, but there is some and only imagine how people celebrate it with gathered energy! I think most significant holiday is "Jani" thats falls at the Latvian shortest night 23 to 24 june. May be some other country celebrate it too but we call this night that way. Important tradition is to make bonfire at that minute when sun hides from our eyes and keep it till sun rises again at morning, and of course how we can without drinking....
#3: What about our people? I heard that some others people think that latvians are very shy, so what can I tell about it? So, I will say them it can be true, but only because that I want them to be shocked when theywill meet us! So Latvian who's listening this now,
go there and show him for both of us who is shy!

  61. Hello everyone.

Now we have a good idea of what we're doing for the first 10 minute podcast. Does anyone have an idea for the second 15 minute podcast?

Also - If anyone has any music they would like playing during the second podcast; I will be able to download and bring them to Athens in June. Just say which songs you would like.

    Have a good day everyone.

Working without everyone involved. It is a good experience and very difficult when you cannot shout at people and get them to join you. In Greece we can give you the opportunity to evaluate together how it all worked out on the Blog

    See you soon......

time is going quickly, the sun in wonderful and Greece is waiting for you.....

Of course during the day you will be working hard making the Podcasts

But if you are organised and all working in your teams I think you will have time for enjoying Athens...

In UK Barrie, Chris and Dale will be on SKYPE and invite you to join us:

11am - 12am morning UK time Monday 17th May and Wednesday 19th May

Just send your SKYPE name to Barrie's SKYPE (barrie.greenwood) and we will call you

  63. Sounds great Barrie, Can't wait till Athens :D

    ReplyDelete
  64. It doesn't sound great for me at all.
As we still don't have a lot of materials prepared we will be doing everything in Athens. It means we won't have time for pleasure... :(

Chris - i can't give you any songs bc we haven't decided about a topic of the 2nd podcast.
I wrote my ideas at least three times but did not get any feedback... :(
    What can i do?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Kasia I thought your idea about stress and reducing it in the work place sounded good, maybe we should use that?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hello,

We definitelty need some 'presenter' of our radio show who will be e.g.: asking questions.
Then everyone will say their part. We include music e.g.: our the best song to make us relax after work/uni/school.
Or we could pretend that we have a job and talk about stress connected with... :)
They're just my open-ended suggestions. I need more people involved in thinking :)

@ Chris - how is the progress of our script? I guess we have 3 people for the moment.
Do you need any help or sth?

Have a nice day everyone! (:
    Kasia.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hello,

Just a little idea for both podcasts. Rather than 1 person speaking, then the next and so on. Maybe we could mix it up a bit. For example:

Person 1 speaks about topic 1
Person 2 speaks about topic 1
Person 1 speaks about topic 2

Just mixing it up a bit.

When I come home from college I tend to listen to music and play my guitar. I think I mite talk about that and also include one of the songs I like to play and listen to.

@ Kasia - The script is going well - just waiting for everyone else to post. If no one posts by the time we get to Athens I'll just leave gaps for them to fill in.

I was thinking about applying my idea about 'mixing things up' to the script also.. just so it seams more like a radio station and sounds more interesting :)

    Have a nice day everyone.

    Chris.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Chris, I thought we were going to talk like you wrote :)
All people about the 1st topic, than alll about 2nd.
It'll be more real if we mix it up.

Do you know how things will be organised in Athens? Are we going to have enough time to create two podcasts?

    Regards,
    Kasia.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Kasia, I'm not sure how it will be organised in Athens. I will ask Barrie on Monday. We should have enough time to create two podcasts, recording them shouldn't take too long. Do you know if there is any written work to be done whilst there as part of the podcasts?

About the script - I will mix the script up to make it sound more realistic.

What should I do about the people that havn't posted yet - leave blank spaces next to their names?

    Regards,

    Chris.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I agree that recording will not take too long. But it will only be if we know what we want to talk about.
Now, we are not able to even prepare something...
    It really worries me :(

Well, i think the best idea would be leaving some spaces for their parts bc it's unable for us to write about other cultures.

Do you think you'll get to Athens due to volcanic ash? I've read that some airports in the UK are closed.
    It's not a pleasant situation.

Anyway, thank you for writting, Chris :)

    Good nite,
    Kasia.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Okay I shall upload the script ASAP and will leave areas blank - We can forget about podcast one for now and start prepating a second script and choosing music for the second podcast.

I will most probably be in Athens; The volcanic ash doesn't seem to be near the airport we're leaving from. Wouldn't it be funny if I got stuck in Athens because of the ash xD

I have also noticed. At the top of the blog it says the first meeting is on the 2nd of June - I get to Athens on the 30th of May and will have four days before the first metting.

    Regards,
    Chris.

I'm not able to speak to them because i don't have any contact.

@Chris - I think we will be on Skype on Wed.
You're lucky that you will be having four extra days in Athens! I think we're coming straight to the workshops.

Well, shall we start preparing another script by two of us? :>

  76. Hello people sorry I have not been very active. My name is Adam and I am from England. How can I help??

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hello Adam and welcome to the group. We have started a script for the first podcast. We have chose to talk about our own countries for the podcast, the topics we will cover are:

    cuisine
    season
    personality

If you could write what you would like to say about England and include each of these lasting only 2-3 minutes - it would help a lot.

@ Kasia - I will begin writing what I would like to say on the second podcast.

Are we just covering one of the topics you listed or all?

Personally I think your idea about how we relax after School/College/Uni/Work would be quite interesting. I have also been thinking about songs I would like to use for the second podcast - so far one of them is Guns N' Roses - November rain (Just the guitar solo's xD)

    Have a nice day everyone,

    Chris.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Guys, first of all sorry for the last days, that I couldn't contribute more. Firstly, I am presenting you my part for the first podcast:

    Cuisine:

I believe that Greek cuisine is an experience that someone cannot understand it without eating a Greek meal in a Greek tavern in a Greek island. "Horiatiki" is the name of our salad which has as a main ingredient, the Greek oil, secret of longevity. "Tzatziki" is our main appetizer, which mainly includes yogurt and garlic (not ideal for couples!). And "Ouzo" is the main drink, main ingredient: anise. The food, the company, the laughter, the sea, the music, are combined in order a Greek tavern experience to be created.

    Season:

Without a question, the best season of the year for Greece is the summer. My country has a warm summer which combined to the numerous islands that Greece has, makes it a main destination for tourists around the world. A summer day in Athens, would include a walk in Plaka and Monastiraki, the places near Acropolis. The walk would include wondering around the short walk-roads, a visit at Parthenon and of-course eating in a traditional tavern. Then sleep. And then at night, with friends at Gazi, companies of young people dace in bars, chat, laugh and create moments of a lifetime.

    Personality:

Greeks are weird and unique. Able to do the best and the worst. But most of the times, especially during the period of summer, especially in a tavern as I explained before, Greeks are out-hearted, alive people, with life
inside them. You can see it in their eyes and in their dance. We are working hard. But we know that we work to live and not live to work and that is very important.

Write me if I have to correct something in my text. Secondly, because I got a little confused, can someone tell me where we are as far as what concerns the 2nd podcast?

Thank you in advance, few days left!
    Dominic!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Hello everyone,

    Dominic, nice work!
Sounds exciting - food, music, places.
I hope you'll be able to show us some of those you wrote about.

Could you also write some tips useful for us?
Recommend some basic things. Bc it's my first time in Greece.

I'm sure that Chris will correct all mistakes :)
Don't worry. He's our language support xD

As about second podcast we're considering to talk about reducing stress. What we do to relax ourselves. And we would also like to include our favourite songs :)

    Have a nice evening!
    Greetings from rainy Poland :(

  84. Hello everyone,

Perfect! I suppose that we can finish our script eventually. We have probably got all the coutries described.

Now, I want everyone to write something about their methods of reducing stress. What we do to feel relaxed after school... (playing the instrument/ reading,/any other extraordinary way)

What is more, everyone is required to write the name of a song or a few songs which he likes the most.
Then we can start considering how to organise our radio show :)

I have a question to Chris - do you think that talking about stress is enough for the 2nd podcast? I guess we will be able to cover 15 minutes.

    Have a nice day! (:
    Kasia.

  85. Hello everyone,

Kasia - I think stress would be enough for the second podcast, once we talk about what causes stress, methods of reducing it and include the songs we chose.

  88. Hi Robert,

We are going to record two scripts in Athens. As for the 1st one, you need to prepare 3 parts about customs in your country which are:
    * cuisine (e.s. the most popular dish)
    * one season of the year (e.g. winter and activities connected)
    * characteristic features of your society (e.g. shyness)

As for the 2nd, which will be a kind of a radio show, please write something about what you think causes stress, what are your methods of reducing stress. And the most important - write names of your favourite songs (at least two).
We're going to attache them while we're speaking.

We have written our parts for the 1st podcast already so take a look above and do similar thing.

Have a nice day everyone (:
    Kasia.

  89. Dish

Well , Romanian traditional food is categorized by region. The most popular dish is the soup, but each part of the country makes a special tradition of the region.
In Banat the traditional soup is ''Zdrente soup'' .The main ingredient is smashed eggs.
In Moldova the traditional food is ''Bors soup'' . The ingredients are bors, chicken an a lot of vegetables.
In Ardeal the traditional food is stuffed peppers .The ingredients are : peppers , rice and mushrooms.

    Season

Romanians have 2 preffered seasons . Winter and summer , but the most preffered is summer because we have the sea which is the most crowdy part of the country during summer time . Also we have the Dunarea(in english Danube) river where you can pass it by boat. You can also go fishing as well.

    Pesonality

Romanian people is very ambitious and very traditional by nature . We all keep the traditions alive and we always try to do our best in culinary , sports and most importantly we`re helping each other.

Beer is traditional drink of Latvians - without him it is impossible to imagine any holiday in ancient times and today. Beer is the most frequent drinks mentioned in Latvian folklore, he devoted a lot of folk songs.

    Season:
Ligo is a tradition holiday in Latvia, which is celebrated on 23 and 24 June - the summer solstice day - an analogue of midsummer Day in other countries. People in this day to throw large fires. Sometimes there are people which jump through a fire.

The first script is now complete and I will be uploading it very soon. We should now start the second script as Misi has done above. We should also choose a piece of music lasting 2-3 minutes. If someone would like to volunteer to make the second script - I don't mind helping.

The weather is hot in England! How is the weather in all of your countries?

I had a massive problem with my Blogger account. I tried to log on tonight and it had been deleted. I have lost my profile and all the posts I have made. This is a new account and looks as though I will have to start fresh :(

This will not affect the Podcasting work though.

  96. Hello everyone,

    For podcast 2 -

    Song(s) - Guns N' Roses - November rain solos

    Dialog:

I am going to be talking about stress and what I do to reduce it.

People often get stressed at school/college/uni or work.

reasons why people may be stressed:

    Work
    Deadlines
    Behind on work
    Missing deadlines
    People in the work place

There are also many other reasons why people may get stressed.

My methods of reducing the stress:

Personally I like to play my guitar. I enjoy playing songs by artists such as The Shadows and Gun N' Roses.

I also like to spent time with my family.

I also enjoy playing a game online called RuneScape. RuneScape is an MMORPG and is available to play for free or to be a member. RuneScape does have some educational benfits such has having to use Maths to manage money and also taking part in quests which refer back to historical events.

    Rgards,

    Chris.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'm sorry Chris about your profile. But we all know how many posts you wrote :)
    No need to worry.
How's your preparation to Athens going on? :)

So... My song. There are plenty of my favourite songs but I don't want to make you bored with my polish ones that is why I've chosen:
Ice Cube - Today Was A Good Day.

    What makes me feeling stressed?
    - exams
    - deadlines of projects
    - sometimes meeting new people can be stressful as i'm a bit shy
    - working uder pressure (boss' bad attitude toward employees)
    - unplanned difficulties
    - conflicts with relatives or friends

As we know sometimes stress is good. It might motivate us to act. However, too much stress definitely has a bad influence on our health.
Then what do I do to relax? It depended on the level of stress. I usually:
    - Listen to my favourite music
    - Talk to my sister
    - Play a game known as FarmVille on Facebook page
    - Sometimes long bath is enough

    I hope it's not too much :D
We can change it at any time actually.

Have good flights everyone and see you in Athens soon! (:
    Kasia.

  99. Things that are making me feel stressed:

-Have a drink with my friends(Pepsi)
-A good walk in the park
-massage . I am the masseur . I`m learning now
    -Playing footbal
    -Swiming

As for my favourite song , and don`t even know where to start . I have a favourite song when i`m happy , when i`m sad , when i`m bored . So I have choosen my favourite one: ATC - Around the world

Yay back on to blogger now and able to post xD

Dale and I will be flying to Athens on Sunday. I will have only today and tomorrow to post on the blog. I will bring my music and my own written script on what I would like to say, unless someone has already started creating an electronic script?

Also if anyone can check the script for the first podcast and let me know what you think and if you would like me to make any changes, that would be good.

    Good day people,

  104. Hello everyone,
I'm in Greece and the weather is fine. The recording area is set up and we're ready for Thursday. Don't worry if you can't get any music - we can download it at the office :)

I have printed a copy of the script off for us all to read.

The plan is on Thursday. Sit down together and each of us will introduce ourselves (to break the ice). after about half an hour we will then all separate in to our groups where we will then start recording the podcasts.

We only have Thursday and Friday to record and finish the podcasts and should be really finished on Thursday.

If everyone could post here if they're coming it would be great.

    Thanks,

    Chris.

Except for name of our team of course - still do not have any :D

I think (and I hope) we will organised ourselves well on Thursday. It might not be as difficult task to put everything together.
We are working in team so it is easier to deal with.

Anyway, I guess no one will read this so I should finish now and started packing up my stuff.

  107. Hello everyone!

We are one day away from meeting at last!

I submit my script for the 2nd podcast.

My favorite song. Well, the problem is that I hear all kind of music, different genres, so is difficult to pick one. But, if I want to combine a song that I like and that at the same time reduces my stress, I would choose "Comptine d'un autre ete: l'apres midi" from Amelie. It is the music masterpiece that conquers my senses the most.

Things that make me feel stressed:

    - Oral Exams. The subjective character of those exams make me feel very stressed.

    - Time. I want to do a lot of things before I reach the not-young level, and this stresses me as well.

    - Conflicts with close to me people. In this case, I am very stressed until the conflict calms and everything goes back to normal.

    - My favorite team's matches! When I watch a decisive match, I get really stressed!

    Things that calm my stress:

    - Music. Music is one of the most important factors in order to control my feelings.

    - Sleep! After a fight or a conflict, I would automatically try to sleep. Most of the time, I can do that in 5 minutes. But is not because I don't care, but to overcome the stress caused to me.

    - Friends. A night out with much laughter, makes my stress reduced drastically.

    - Sport Activity. Playing football or basketball, takes the pressure that I feel and relaxes me.

That is all for me! CU tomorrow !!!

    Dominic!

  108. Thank you Dominic :)
