Current European research shows that a flexible approach to learning is favoured by a growing number of students who need to fit working life within the framework of learning new skills; in addition, older members of the workforce wish to engage in life long learning. For many people full-time attendance at a local training organisation is problematic due to disability, geographical location or working patterns. The aim of the project is to develop Educational Podcasting (audio/media broadcasting over the internet) to enable these learners to gain knowledge through part-time attendance whilst maintaining the personal support of a tutor.

The six partners, from Greece, Italy, Latvia, Romania, Poland and the UK have met regularly over the life of the project to develop the product, evaluate activities, plan tasks and resolve issues. In the second year of the project, trainees have also been involved in these meetings to ensure the successful piloting of the project. Effective communication between meetings has be ensured via e-mail, video conferencing, on-line meetings and a project blog.

The majority of the podcasts that are presented in this blog, have been developed by the students of the project which have enhanced their technological together with their cultural skills.

Greek Nights

As we all know, the next transnational meeting for our project (which is also the first transnational meeting in which students are going to be involved) is going to take place in Greece during the first week of June. Here, there is a series of pictures showing night photos of many nice places in Greece in order to prepare you for what you are going to see in June. Enjoy!

Student Visit Documentation

Today I will send you the documentation we have agreed the student participants will use to support their project visits. Barrie will investigate methods of having this documentation available on the blog for future use.

As agreed, all student participants in project visits need to complete these documents and I suggest we pilot their use for the visit to Athens.

I will include this as an item on the Agenda for discussion in Athens and look forward to feedback from yourselves and the students.

Please comment on this post so that I know you have received the information.

Students from Poland

Hello everyone,

We would like to introduce ourselves. Our names are Ewa and Kasia. We are from Poland and have got this great opportunity to participate in Podcasting project in June.
We had been interviewing by Barrie Greenwood from Leeds College and Radosław Pyrek who is our tutor.
Barrie's performance was very interesting and it was pleasure to listen to him during the Conference.

On the photo above you can see how we look like. Ewa is a first year student in tourism and recreation, whereas Kasia is a second year student in management.
We are interested in those new kinds of technologies of teaching and we would like to make them more common in Poland in the future.

Moreover, thank to this project Ewa can involve herself in travelling and get known about foreign countries and their customs.
Kasia will be able to practice her teamwork and realise the way of teaching abroad.
What is more, Ewa is interested in music and keen on painting abstractions. Kasia like taking pictures and reading some valuable books.
We are also sociable, out-going and opened for innovations. We do not find it difficult to adapt to the new situations.

Decision to take part in this project was caused by courage and need of trying something different in our lives.

That's all for now from us,
Ewa & Kasia :)

CEES & MWSE as Silent Partners

The number of followers of flexible approach towards teaching is constantly growing. The fact was also noticed by the organisers of the international conference, namely Malopolska School of Economics (MWSE).

Six partner organisations, representing respectively Greece, Italy, Latvia, Romania, Poland and Great Britain, are involved in the project realisation. Polish partners include Center of Education and Enterprise Support from Rzeszow (CEES) and MWSE from Tarnow.

MWSE from Tarnow has already selected those students who were interested in taking part in international workshop held in Athens in three months time (June 2010). Interviews were conducted right after the conference on 19th of March 2010. Barrie Greenwood was the jury chairperson. Two female 1st grade students (1st year of Tourism and Recreation and one from 2nd year of Management) will represent MWSE.
