Current European research shows that a flexible approach to learning is favoured by a growing number of students who need to fit working life within the framework of learning new skills; in addition, older members of the workforce wish to engage in life long learning. For many people full-time attendance at a local training organisation is problematic due to disability, geographical location or working patterns. The aim of the project is to develop Educational Podcasting (audio/media broadcasting over the internet) to enable these learners to gain knowledge through part-time attendance whilst maintaining the personal support of a tutor.

The six partners, from Greece, Italy, Latvia, Romania, Poland and the UK have met regularly over the life of the project to develop the product, evaluate activities, plan tasks and resolve issues. In the second year of the project, trainees have also been involved in these meetings to ensure the successful piloting of the project. Effective communication between meetings has be ensured via e-mail, video conferencing, on-line meetings and a project blog.

The majority of the podcasts that are presented in this blog, have been developed by the students of the project which have enhanced their technological together with their cultural skills.

Plans for Athens (Work and leisure activities)

Thursday morning we are meeting at the office at 10am. We will then have 1 hour with both teams together, this hour will be used to get to know each other and to sort out our teams.

After that hour we will then split up into our teams and go to our separate rooms, here we will read through the scripts and record our Podcasts. We have Thursday and Friday to record our podcasts, although if we finish early enough on Friday, we can go on an organized trip to the Acropolis.

Leisure time

On Thursday night we are going for a meal together and after the meal we are going to a Greek nightclub at 1am till 6am. The staff will be going back to the hotel and not to the nightclub.

On Friday we are going on a trip to the Acropolis if we finish the Podcasts.

On Saturday we are going on an organized cruise to a Greek island, once there we can spend the day on the beach, this is the time for everyone to unwind, relax and get a sun tan.

On Sunday we are then flying home.

We look forward to meeting you all on Thursday

Regards
Dale, Chris & Barrie
