Current European research shows that a flexible approach to learning is favoured by a growing number of students who need to fit working life within the framework of learning new skills; in addition, older members of the workforce wish to engage in life long learning. For many people full-time attendance at a local training organisation is problematic due to disability, geographical location or working patterns. The aim of the project is to develop Educational Podcasting (audio/media broadcasting over the internet) to enable these learners to gain knowledge through part-time attendance whilst maintaining the personal support of a tutor.
Hello everyone!
ReplyDeleteAs you can see we can communicate here ;)
I'm really happy that I can be a leader...
May be it will be a bit difficult but I hope you'll help me, boys! ;))
If you have some ideas concerning to the podcasts, write about them, please.
Regards ;D
Ewa,
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see you in the team :)
I have a few ideas regarding the podcasts that we have to create. I will write them up and post them on here tomorrow.
Don't worry about finding anything difficult, we are all here to help each other :)
Take Care
Hi everyone....
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to be in this team :D ..
ReplyDeleteHello everyone ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Dale for cheepring me up! ;)
That's really great that you have some ideas of reacording our podcasts! Write about it, please... I'm sure that it will be just perfect :P cause I know recording is your hobby ;)
I belive in you xD
Paul we are also glad to see you in the team... Toate cele bune ;))
What's more... Guys, I would like to ask you also about what you would like to compare about your coutries and any ideas for the radio programme (an issue, songs?!). Write general ideas, because as you know we have to make a srcipt of everything ;)
Regards
Hi Everyone
ReplyDeleteFirst i would like to welcome Paul to the team. I have just listened to your audio presentaton, good work =D
I think we need to come up with around 3 things to compare about our countries. If we have anymore we might run out of time on the podcast (we only have 10 mins) I was thinking something along the lines of education, music and leisure activities.
We are operating as a team so what does everyone else thing about this?
I would love to hear other suggestions from the rest of the team.
Also as Ewa pointed out, we need to put everything into a script ready for Greece, who has that job?
Take Care
Hi team!
ReplyDeleteI'm here. :D
Ewa don't worry, you'll do a great job as a group leader. :D
Bye!
I think the comparison should be based on: how people spend free time, most viewed places in that country and specific tradition ... this is my opinion
ReplyDeletecomparing* ... keyboard error sorry:))
ReplyDeleteHey Hi Hello !! ;D
ReplyDeleteGood ideas, I also think that we can compare 3 things, because of the time ;p and everybody should say something ;)
First comparison: how we spend free times, leisure activities etc.
Second comparison: traditions?! (but what exactly: cuisine, holidays, ...?)
Third comparison: places best known - I mean types of places... (like mountains, sea, cities or sth like that)
What do you think of that?? ;)
Dale, I don't think that comparing music is a good idea, because I think that we can discuss about them in this radio programme?? And use there some songs, as Barrie said... I was wondering if you could prepare some music, something different, something new?? ;))
Is it possible? ;> We could use it in breaks between our talking...
Do we have to think of name of our team? If yes, I'm waiting on your suggestions... ;)
Greetings from Sunny Tarnów ;))
Ewa, i like your ideas and i am happy to use them if everyone else is =)
ReplyDeleteI think they will make for a good varied podcast.
I also like your idea about the music for the second podcast (radio programme) I will have a look at preparing some music. Do you have an idea on what type of music you would like? Different genres for example.
Team names - In Barrie's initial podcast he did say that we had to name our teams. I had a sneaky look at the other team and they are thinking of names. I will put my creative cap on and have a think over the weekend =D
Regards
holidays ...
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that you like my ideas, I hope that everyone also will like it ;p But we can change them, don't worry ;))
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of this comparisons... we was talking about cuisine. What about talking about sweets? Everybody like them and I think that in every country there is something special ;p
Holidays - may be Christmass? Easter? Or one special day - the most important in the year?
Dale, I like every kind of music... so I will accept everything :D I think that we can mix a little bit of different genres, as you said.
I have one more question Dale, do you know Paul Falkingham? He is in our group... Does he go to Athens, too??
Regards ;))
Your idea about cuisine is good, how about cuisine native to each country?
ReplyDeleteHolidays are also a good idea, how about we talk about special days in each country.
St George's Day for example (which happens to be today) =D
I will get working on the music front and will keep you posted.
In response to your question about Paul Falkingham - He is a foundation degree student at our college so i have never met him. I'm not sure if he will be at Athens, I will ask Barrie when i see him on Monday.
Take Care
Hm... native cuisine of easch country - great! (one special dish, something to drink may be? ;P)
ReplyDeleteYeah, the best idea is to talk about special days... because usual holidays can be a little bit boring, it is rather similar in eery country ;)
Thank you very much for helping with music! May be we could also for example take some song (everyone could choose faourite track) and we could mix them... You know what I mean? I don't know how to describe it ;p
If you will know what do you want say in podcast number one, write this please... it will be useful in making script ;p
Thank you Dale for asking Barrie about Paul... It's important for me to know because I would like to ask them to take a look on our script, when it will be ready... to avoid some mistakes and be professional... ;))
If he won't help us. I would like to ask you for that... You are from UK so I think you could do this excellent xD It is your native language... not mine ;p :D
So, Happy St George's Day ;);P
Bye :D
So it sounds like we agree that in podcast 1 we should compare:-
ReplyDelete- Holidays (Special Public Holidays)
- Cuisine (Special food / drink native to each country)
Whats the third going to be?
I understand what you mean when you say 'mix the songs' if everyone gave me their favourite song then i could do this, no problem =)
I will start to think about making a script, although it might be hard to collaborate this with the team. How about just one person makes the script? Someone with experience of doing them?
No problem about me asking Barrie about Paul. I will report back to you about this on Monday evening. I know what you mean about wanting to know who is in our team.
If he is not going to Athens, then i would be more than happy to look over the script as requested :)
I dont know about you but i feel that only a few people are actually using this communication area. Do you know if the rest of the team will be joining in?
Best Regards
Third comparison - leisure activities? How do students spend their free time exactly xD
ReplyDeleteAnd what about the issue of the second podcasting?? Any ideas??
I was thinking of songs in our own languages xD
I can choose one in Polish, Dale, you can choose in English, for exapmle Cristian in Romanian etc... it can be interesting, isn't it??
I think like you that only one person will make the script but each person has to write what he wants to say about each comparison... we have to also write some questions, as Barrie said. I hope that making script won't be so hard to do if everybody write something ;))
Unfortunately I don't know each persons from our group and even I don't have any contact with them... I was wondering if we could contact with them normally by e-mail??
There is only about 4 or 5 weeks left to Greece and I don't know if the rest of the team will be joining in... I hope so, but if not we will just do it with few people ;))
Take care ;D
Leisure activities sounds good.
ReplyDeleteSo we have:-
1 - Holidays (Special Public Holidays)
2 - Cuisine (Special food / drink native to each country)
3 - Leisure activities (How students spend their free time)
Yeah, i like the idea about songs in our own languages. At least that way it will be varied. I was thinking podcast 2 would go something like this -
We would have a radio host, and it would be like a phone in show. Students who have picked songs could phone in and request that song, they then say why they like that it, the song plays, we then move onto another person phoning in. Obviously it will need more content building in, but thats just a rough outline .... what does everyone else think about this?
If people dont get in touch in the communication area then you can E-Mail them, if they have put their E-Mail on their blogger profile. Otherwise its just a case of waiting for them to come on here.
Yeah its five weeks left to Athens. If you want i will have a word with Barrie tomorrow about the rest of the team?
Regards
Hi Dale,
ReplyDeleteI'm from the other group. I've just read that you will be able to have a word with Barrie tomorrow and I want you to ask him about the rest of my team from UK. I can't do everything myself :(
I would be grateful.
Anyway, i'm sorry to interrupt. Hope that the team number one is not mad at me :D
Regards,
Kasia xX
Hi Everyone !
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you all!
Firts , I want to apologise because I didn't said anything until now,but starting from now you can count on me and if I can help you somehow please let me know :)
Bye Bye !
Kasia,
ReplyDeleteSure, i will have a word with Barrie for you about the rest of your team. I understand that you can't do everything yourself. I will also have a word with Chris if you want.
Don't worry about posting in here =D
@ Cata - welcome to the communication area. Please have a read of the other comments in here. If you like our suggestions then please say. Also if you have any objections please say :)
Regards
Dale, great job! I think this idea about radio programme is really good... I can also say that I had a similar idea, so I absolutely agree with this.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid we have to wait on other people from our team because we don't have any e-mail contact and what's more we cannot contact in another way than by blog!!
I will be really greatful if you have a word with Barrie about the rest of the team ;))
Cata - welcome ;)) We are really happy that you joined to the team number ONE.
Think of ours team name ;) !!
If anybody know what song you want to choose, write about this, also about questions and what you want to say!! We have to start writing script as soon as possible ;)
Kasia, we're not mad at you ;) I think that Dale will do his best to help your team ;))
Btw, 2gether we are also ONE BIG TEAM ;)
Regards xD
Hi Everyone
ReplyDeleteJust got a few points from Barrie that i need to mention.
- Could Popesc or Helgiu please get Tilici to join the communication area.
- Could Artus please get into Team 1 from Team 2. Could Artus also try and get Ugis and Eriks into the comunication area.
- Paul Falkingham from the UK will be joining us in Athens on the 2nd June.
@ Ewa - I hope that the above will help people to join the commmunication area.
Thanks for looking at the radio programme, glad you like it.
If everyone could get me a song then i can sort them out. =D
Speak soon
Thank you for help Dale... ;)) I hope that the rest of the team join and they will occur on the communication area as soon as possible... ;)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about this song and I would like you to askc if thins song can be of any kind... and is it possbile to use for example 2 songs?? ;> i don't know how you exactly see it and how you want to do this...
Regards :))
Hello !
ReplyDeleteDale, I have read all comments from here and everything sounds good for me,I have no objections. :)
Ewa you said that we need a name for team and I have some suggestions.
could be :
-something that we all have in common (for example : music - "Addicted to music" or something like that).
-something funny like "Ninja Penguins" :)
-something simple like a combination of numbers,a color,a animal(Cougars) or any other thing.
All we have to do is to use our imagination :D
I hope that will help you somehow or it will bring you some new ideeas , but if you have others than mines please let me know.
Bye Bye !
hello!
ReplyDeleteCata - it's nice that you have write something..
I like the ideas of names. The best is "Addicted to music" :D
I was thinking of our names initials also...?
Take care ;)
hello to everyone!!! i am alexandros from greece!!! i apologise for my delay on participating on the project ( i had a paper to deliver for the university, and i had many days to get on the blog... but this is not an excuse.. LEADER EWA i propose the next time- it won't be- to punish me)
ReplyDeletewow!! you have some excelent ideas about the first project ! i think the concept is exactly this...i think also the message that we should pass is not only our cultural differents but also some common things tha unite us as european citizens !!!
as for project 2 i like very much the idea of Dale about choosing one characteristic song for every country ...However i thing , from what i have understood from Barrie's post, that music should be combined with a more general topic (for example, equality in the EEC workplace or something else of our own choose if it is possible). My idea about the presentation of the radio programm is the following: as the meeting is in athens i think we should mention that we are broadcasting from athens ...i think there should be one presentator as a host, and then one person from each country as a guest saying his opinion(and the song of his country perhaps) about the topic we 'll choose to talk about ( i think it should be a topic that matters all of us --about our working possibilities- education possibilities on our countries and the EU maybe)
ps1. ewa i think you make an ecxelent leader!
ps2. i ll prepare my personal profile in order to get to know me as i did through yours
ps3. the meeting in greece is unfortunately the same days with my exams...However i ll be there(as much i can at least) cause there is an experience i don't want to loose...
ps4. and one small language lesson for your arrival : ''kalimera, tha ithela na fao ena soublaki, na pio ligo ouzaki kai na peraso kala stin omorfi ellada'' means ''good mornig, i would like to eat souvlaki, drink a litle bit of ouzo -cause we have to work :), and have good time in beautiful greece''!
hello Alejandro!
ReplyDeleteIt's really nice to read something from you and about you!
Don't worry about being a little bit delayed ;)
I hope that you will help us, cause I see that you are an imaginative person and you have lots of great ideas! ;)
Your idea for the second podcast is very good. I like the subject. I agree with them because I think everybody will be able to say about the situation in their own country and how each of us see our future - job, possibilities...
And an idea about the presentator (host) and the rest of team is also nice. Tkanks to it everything will be well-organised. So, who's gonna be the presentator? Any volunteers? ;D
Excellent leader? hihih... Thank you very much, but I'm afraid that I haven't done anything special yet...
Thank you for a short lesson of Greek ;)) but what is the good pronunciation? -Den milo elenika
Chieretízmata ;))))
hello everyone!
ReplyDeleteI have to apologize about mine not participaiting in this conversation.Ewa I think you we'll be great team leader and I realy like alexandros idea about sharing our opinion with work and education possibilities.
welcome aboard eddy!!!
ReplyDeleteewa, i don't have problem to be the host... i would like it !
the pronunciation is a litle bit difficult but don't woryy they will undestand you :)
Until now in our time are: ewa.dale, paul, cata,Mihaita and my self...is this right ?
and eddy
ReplyDeleteHello ;))
ReplyDeleteWelcome in the project Eddy xD
It's great that our team become bigger ;))
Alexandros, I'm happy that you want to be the host of this radio programme ;) Do you think that every person can say sth only once time :)
Regards :*
hello eddy. welcome in team! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that some people read my post about getting into the team =D
ReplyDeleteI think that we should just concentrate on one podcast at a time so that people dont get confused. Anyone agree?
I think we have enough great ideas now and we should start putting everything together into a script. Would anyone like to volunteer to do the script? If not then i would be more than willing to do it :)
Alejandro - Yes you are correct with the people that have been in the team so far.
Regards
Hello everyone!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for being so late. I think the ideas about the first podcast are really great. I will think of some cuisine which best represents our country and of other things.
Best regards
Welcome Ugis! We are glad to see you in group.
ReplyDeleteGreets.
Update: Under instruction from Barrie i am going to create a sample script and upload it here. It will be ready for Friday afternoon. From there we can decide who will make the script and who says what in it.
ReplyDeleteEwa & Kasia - It was nice speaking to you today =) It's a shame that our connection was a bit weak. We will try and fix it for next week =)
Regards
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ewa. We need to move foward now and look at getting a script wrote. It would be great if everyone could post on here something they want to say, i can then work it into the script =D
ReplyDeleteQuestion for Ewa - If people don't tell me what they want to say shall i just make something up for them?
Ewa, Thanks for the offer for the help, i will contact you if i need it =D
Take Care
Dale, I think that Barrie said like that. We have to make sth up for people who won't say anything!
ReplyDeleteIf you write sth for them in the script and you put it on the blog, they will read it and they will agree or not. If not they will give you some new ideas, suggestions etc.
We have to give them few days to write something. It woulkd be great if eerybody write something but I'm afraid it's impossible ;P
I'm sorry I deleted my comment... I didin't want to do it... It was by accident ;p
I want to only remind topics for the first PODCAST:
1 - Holidays (Special Public Holidays)
2 - Cuisine (Special food / drink native to each country)
3 - Leisure activities (How students spend their free time)
It's all for now ;))
Hi Everyone,
ReplyDeleteHere is an example of a script, as promised :)
(Copy the link below)
http://www.box.net/shared/k2ujc37ruz
Regards
well i think it's easy for everyone to write sth about theese three topics... otherwise i think it's quite difficoult to write about another country;s coustom(for those who didn;t write) ...
ReplyDeleteSo, what time limit should we give for everyone to write about theese three topics??
very good and organised script Dale!! thank you very much!!
ReplyDeleteI think it could be made either this way or another possible way could be to speak by subject. What i mean is to speak for example first about cuisine and every each one of us to say about this topic...after for holidays and so on ....what do you suggest?-i would like everyone's opinion on that
My personal opinion is that it would be more interesting that way
because
1) all the thesis for each subject could be together ..so it is easier to compare them
2) voices will change faster so those who hear it could pay more atention ...because until the fifth speaker they may get bored
well either way i'm happy, i' m just expressing my opinion . And above all thank you very much Dale for your work!!!
Good work Dale ;)) I think this script is well-oirgasnised, but I have the same idea of speak about subjects separately... Is it possbile to change it like that? ;) That would be great :D
ReplyDeletePEOPLE FROM OUR TEAM: Write on the blog what you want to say by the end of the next week?? Is that ok?
If you don't write anything we will make up what you will say in the podcasts!!
So hurry up :P
Regards :)
I also had a look at the script sample (thank you Dale for it) and it’s well done, but I agree that the best way would be to speak by subject mainly because it would be easier to compare our cultural differences and similarities and ask the questions.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I have one more thing to suggest. In order to compare our cultures it would be better to decide upon one specific public holiday which is celebrated in all our countries and talk about the ways our customs differ in celebrating it. Otherwise if we choose our own countries special public holidays it could happen those days have nothing in common as they are mostly related to some important historical event. After all, it was advised to seek things common to all our cultures (I believe it was in audio instructions). What are your thoughts on this subject?
Anyway, I will write something until this Sunday.
Regards
Oh sorry, it wasn’t said to seek things common in our cultures, I just imagined it...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, in order to compare cultures it’s best to have both – differences and similarities, at least in my opinion.
By the way, if I talk too much nonsense do remind me to shut up :D
Bye
I am glad that you have all read the script and thanks for the feedback =D
ReplyDeleteThe script i uploaded was just an example of a script. It's not necessarily the script that we have to use, but its a good template.
If i had some lines what people wanted to say then i could make the script so people speak by subject as you suggested.
It would be nice to have the script wrote by next weekend. Remember we still have Podcast 2 to plan and write aswell!
If people could post here some ideas on what they want to talk about in the Podcast then i could get writing the script =D
Ewa, Alejandro, Ugis - Do you know what you would like to talk about in the podcast?
I would also like to thank you all for your input so far. I think we have a good team here. Keep it up =D
Regards
Dale I don;t know if you remember but Alexandros have written some ideas about the second podcast in one of his comments! ;)
ReplyDelete"i think it should be a topic that matters all of us --about our working possibilities- education possibilities on our countries and the EU maybe", he said.
I think it's good idea... but I'm wondering if it's not too hard to talk... May be we can talk sbout some problems like: drinking, drugs between young people?
Regards ;))
thanks for script dale.
ReplyDeleteI think it's good organised.
Hello!
ReplyDeleteHere is something for the first podcast...
The most interesting of Latvian holidays is Jāņi. In the night of Jāņi which is from 23rd to 24th of June it is customary to build a large fire and keep it going all through the night and jump over it to symbolise the sun and its movement. The singing or at least listening to Janis songs is also a tradition which is still fairly common. It was a custom to serve self-made Janis cheese and freshly brewed beer, but nowadays those things are usually bought in a shop.
Of our native foods the most common is boiled black peas with small pieces of fried bacon called zirņi ar speķi and it is usual to drink kefir with it. On special occasions many people still bake their own bacon buns (called pīrāgi). In early spring many of us drink fresh birch juice or fermented one later in the year. Brewing of beer has a long standing history in our country too.
About the leisure activities... Well it’s such a broad spectrum of things and depends heavily on personal interests. I’ll come back to this part a bit later.
Let me know what you think of this bit so I can correct/modify it. :)
Regards!
Ugis - Thanks for posting something about your country. I will build this into the script. Since you posted the information first i think it's only fair that you talk first in the podcast =D Is this okay with you?
ReplyDeleteI will post another example script on here some time over the weekend.
Ewa - Yes i do remember Alexandros posting something about the second podcast. I like his ideas and also yours.
As soon as we get the script written for Podcast 1 we can start on Podcast 2 =D
Take Care
Dale, it's all right with me.
ReplyDeleteAnd about the second podcast - the subject of work and education possibilities is indeed important to all of us. It is quite difficult to talk about, but we can manage it, can't we? :D
Hello everyone ;))
ReplyDeleteUgis - thank you for having written something ;)) Now we can really start our working on that. ;) Mainly you, Dale.
Here is something from me:
1) I would like to say something about public holiday celebrated on November the 11th, which marks the restoration of Poland's independence in 1918. It's called National Independence Day. After 123 years of partitions Poland reappeared on the map of Europe as a sovereign democratic state. Traditionaly we organise Independence Day Parade and put flowers on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. There is also gala concert with somewhat of a bitter aftertaste. In schools there are some official academies which remnind students a bit of history of my country.
2)Pierogi have long been a traditional Polish food staple. They may have come from Russia in the Middle Ages, but they are as Polish as Polish food gets. Dough filled with cheese, potatoes, onions, cabbage, mushrooms, meat (or almost any other ingredient, savory or sweet, that you can think of), pierogi are served steaming hot boiled or fried and are accompanied by sour cream. Homemade pierogi are a special treat that even the pickiest eater will beg for more. ;)) mmmm....
3) I think that this topic about leisure activities isn't so good because I think that ways of spending leisure time in our countries are similar... May be we should think about something different... May be... characeristic things about our society... may be some stereotypes and a little bit of truth...:P
For example: it is said that Polish people are really hospitable and we are patriots. What's more it is also said that Polish girls are beautiful ;p
But seriously, what do you think of it? ;>
Have you got any other ideas?? ;)
What about topic of the second podcast??
Regards ;))
Interesting... November 11 is important for four countries represented here:
ReplyDelete1918 – Józef Piłsudski comes to Warsaw and assumes supreme military power in Poland. Poland regains its independence, celebrated each year on this day.
1919 – Lāčplēša day – Latvian forces defeat the Freikorps at Riga in the Latvian War of Independence (but it's not a holiday).
1924 – Prime Minister Alexandros Papanastasiou proclaims the first recognized Greek Republic.
2006 – Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II unveils the New Zealand War Memorial in London, United Kingdom, commemorating the loss of soldiers from the New Zealand Army and the British Army.
Quite interesting.
Wow ;)) It's also interesting... may be you coukd add something during my talking about this holiday, Ugis ;)
ReplyDeleteI found a video with celebration of Jani in a traditional manner.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXJpIBocNys
It's low-quality vid, but maybe someone wants to take a look. :)
Hello everyone !
ReplyDeleteHere you can find something about Romania :
1)Mărţişorul is a tradition celebrated on the first day of spring. The name Mărţişor is the diminutive of the name for March (Martie, in Romanian). The tradition is very old and dates for more than 8 000 years. Mărţişor is the name for the red and white string, from which usually a small decoration is tied, and offered to a women. Giving this Talisman to other people is an old custom, and it is believed that the one who wears the red and white string will be powerful and healthy for the year to come, but in modern times the Mărţişor lost most of its talisman properties and became more of a symbol of friendship and love, appreciation and respect.
2)Sarmaua is a traditionally meal, cooked in Romania with cabbage, meat, onion and rice. Spices are also an important ingredient due to the fact that Romanian cuisine is influenced by cultures that used spices regularly in every meal. The spices usually used in this mixture are paprika and black pepper.Sarmaua is a traditional meal for Christmas and New Year but also can be cooked for birthdays or other holidays.
3)Waiting for you to come up with the 3rd subject .. :P
Bye Bye !
Hi everyone..Sunday 2nd May and I have finally got round to blog site. My name is Paul Falkingham and I am in Team 1 as 'language support'. I am currently doing a degree in Applied computing at Leeds City college, Horsforth site. Snowed under with college work plus I work full time for Royal Mail plus I have two young children, so excited about Athens 'holiday'....joking!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I am looking forward to meeting you all soon.
Thanks everyone for the information about your countries. It is all very interesting. I will get working on the script tomorrow and post it here when it is done.
ReplyDeletePaul, welcome to the blog. I know what you mean when you say you have been busy, sometimes there are not enough hours in the day.
Regards
Hello Paul, it's nice to see you here.
ReplyDeleteHi Paul, nice to see you here... :)
ReplyDeleteThank you all for writing on the blog.. I'm waiting for the rest of our team... :)
What about the third topic of 1 podcast...
Regards
The third topic could be places? Well known famous places in each country?
ReplyDeleteEwa suggested this earlier in the blog, what does everyone else think about this?
Regards
I think it will be interesting to hear of other countries famous places, and there is certainly enough to tell about. It's a good topic.
ReplyDeleteRegards
yes!it's good idea.
ReplyDeleteFamous places in our country? Great idea! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat about the second podcast? :P
Regards :))
Could be famous celebrity :))
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone agrees that we should do it on famous places in each country. I think that it will be a interesting subject. I already have my place planned out =D
ReplyDeletePaul, i think a celebrity could be difficult. I don't think that they really say much for our countries. What does everyone else think. Celebrities or Famous places?
Take Care
Hello everyone !
ReplyDeleteWelcome in team Paul !
You are right Dale , could be a bit difficult to talk about celebrities, so I'm up for famous places.
Regards :)
I think that I would like write and say sth about famous places, too... :))
ReplyDeleteI encorage others to write sth on the blog! We're waiting for you :)
Best regards :))
Great, famous places it is =D
ReplyDeleteI have started to write the script today, i will post it here when it is done.
It would be great if more people could post on here, telling me what they would like to talk about.
Take Care
guys i'm very sorry that i haven't write mine...until tomorow night i' ll post them!
ReplyDeletehello from Athens!!!
ReplyDeletefirst of all i would like to suggest you not to be afraid to come in athens due to what you' re hearing in the news ...Yes , the situation is difficoult from the economical crisis , and people are angry for the strict measurments but greece remains a very hospitable country and you don' have to be afraid of anything ( only of the ingronace)
secondly, as i promised , here is my post about the first podcasting
1) I'm going to speak about 17th of November and the ''Politechnio''. The Athens Polytechnic uprising in 1973 was a massive demonstration of popular rejection of the Greek military junta of 1967-1974. The uprising began on November 14, 1973, escalated to an open anti-junta revolt and ended in bloodshed in the early morning of November 17 after a series of events starting with a tank crashing through the gates of the Polytechnic. Well it is very important for me ,because it was a massive demonstration with students and people shouting against the dictators and over freedom
2) I'' ll choose my favorite : Pastitsio is a classic Greek dish, with several variations. This layered recipe of pasta, meat sauce, and cheese, is topped with a creamy sauce, bechamel. It is delicious!!!
3) I m going to speak about my favorite place and homeland, CRETE or CANDIA . Crete is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands and the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Heraklion is the largest city and capital of Crete. Is very well known about the hostabi;ity, the tradition, the wonderful places and beaches, the food, and for history lovers Crete was the center of the Minoan civilization, the first advanced civilization in Greece and Europe.
Hi everybody
ReplyDeleteSorry i haven't posted on here for a while, been quite busy.
Good news - The script for Podcast 1 is almost ready. I just have to put the finishing touches to it. I will upload it here when it is finished (a few days time)
I was just wondering if anybody has any ideas about Podcast 2?
3 Weeks till Athens!
Regards
Hello everybody :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Dominikos for writing something to the first podcast... I also should write sth at the third topic... But now I don't have much time... I promise I will do it as soon as possible... :))
Ideas for Podcast 2:
- working abilities in our countries
- how to fight with shyness during communicating with others, language borders etc...
What do you think of that??
We' re waiting for the script Dale... :))
Why didn't we talk by skype last wednesday??
Regards :)
Hi Everyone
ReplyDeleteI will have the script uploaded here in a few days, the people who have not posted on here are not on the script. I have just left a few minutes at the end for them to say something. Do you think this is fair?
Podcast 2 has to be a radio show on topics such as equality in the workplace. I think your idea on 'working abilities in our countries' is a good idea. Could you please expand on that so we all understand what you mean? =D
Last Wednesday Barrie told us that he thought you was too busy to go on Skype.
Hopefully we will be able to tak by Skype this Wednesday to discuss the script :)
Take Care
hello !
ReplyDeletei am going to re-post here my suggestion about the second podcasting
''as for project 2 i like very much the idea of Dale about choosing one characteristic song for every country ...However i thing , from what i have understood from Barrie's post, that music should be combined with a more general topic (for example, equality in the EEC workplace or something else of our own choose if it is possible). My idea about the presentation of the radio programm is the following: as the meeting is in athens i think we should mention that we are broadcasting from athens ...i think there should be one presentator as a host, and then one person from each country as a guest saying his opinion(and the song of his country perhaps) about the topic we 'll choose to talk about ( i think it should be a topic that matters all of us --about our working possibilities- education possibilities on our countries and the EU maybe)''
greetings from Alexandros(not Dominikos :) )
Hello everyone !
ReplyDeleteHere is my post about third topic :
Bran Castle is one of the most valuable monuments of medieval architecture in Romania, known by tourists from around the world as Dracula Castle. It's called like that because legend of Count Dracula was associated with one of Prince Vlad Tepes.Originally Bran Castle (in glory "Brana" means "gate") was a fortress used in 1378 in defence against the Ottoman Empire, and later became a customs post on the mountain pass between Transylvania and Wallachia.
Regards !
Hello :))
ReplyDeleteFew words for the third topic:
3) My favourite place in Poland Salt Mine in Wieliczka. It is located in the South - East from Kraków. This mine was found in the XIIIth century and at present it is listed on the World Cultural Heritage UNESCO. The mine has 300 meters of labyrinth with tunnels on 9 levels. The underground tourist route covers 20 chambers and 2 km of passageway on 3 levels. In them there is a fascinating Chapel of Blessed Kinga with chandelier, floor and sculptures of salt. The walls are covered with bas-reliefs presenting scenes from the New Testament. :))
The second podcast:
'working abilities in our countries' - I was thinking of something like working abilities in our countries, if it's hard or easy to find a job where we really want to work... May be how good some sectors of our national economy are developed etc. We can base on our interests, for example I'm studying Tourism and Recreation and I would like to say sth about tourist market in Poland, my future plans and if they're really possible to make them true ;)
I don't know if you know what I mean?
I think that the Alexandros' idea is just similar to mine :))
I know you are Alexandros ;)) I'm really sorry ;P It was just a mistake ;p
Are we going to talk by skype tomorrow, Dale?
I don't know why Barrie thought like that becuase we were waiting on the skyoe for you last week... ?!
Regards :)))
Hi everyone!

hello ;)
ReplyDeleteI would like you to write sth, people! ;)
To the second podcast: Please, write titles of songs which you had chosen to the second podcast... because Dale promised to mix them... that's why he would like to know earlier about it;))
My song is : "Lampa i sofa" Ania Wyszkoni...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MeKjxytN1A
here you can listen to this song ;)
Regards ;)
Hi Everyone
ReplyDeleteI have just finished the script for Podcast 1. I have worked out all the times and we dont have enough time for all of us to talk about 3 subjects.
I think the easiest thing would be to not talk about one subject. I think that we should not talk about food in each country.
What does everyone else think about this?
Regards
@Ewa .. thats a great song, thanks for posting it up.
ReplyDeleteIf everyone else could post their songs it would be great =D
Regards
Hello!
ReplyDeleteEwa, your subject for the second podcast sounds good to me. I agree with it.
My song for the second podcast is Pazemē (In the Underworld) by Skyforger. You can listen to it here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQSLnBcBQ3c
It's my favorite Latvian song, but if it's too long or too heavy, I'll try to find another one :)
Dale, I agree that we can skip foods if there is not enough time, because other two subjects are more interesting (at least for me).
Regards :)
my favorite latvian song is Prāta vētra(Brainstorm)-Četri krasti(four shore)

2 weeks to Athens................
ReplyDeleteGreat progress!
Working with nearly everyone involved. In Greece we can give you the opportunity to evaluate together how it all worked out on the Blog
See you soon......
time is going quickly, the sun in wonderful and Greece is waiting for you.....
Of course during the day you will be working hard making the Podcasts
But if you are organised and all working in your teams I think you will have time for enjoying Athens...
In UK Barrie, Chris and Dale will be on SKYPE and invite you to join us:
11am - 12am morning UK time Monday 17th May and Wednesday 19th May
Just send your SKYPE name to Barrie's SKYPE (barrie.greenwood) and we will call you
Hello ;)
ReplyDeleteOk, we won't talk about food in each country ;)) if we don't have enough time ;)
2 podcast - working possibilities?? ;> Who's for? How the discussion will look like? any ideas?
Ugis and Eddy - thank you for songs :) They're great! :D
Barrie, I don't know now if I will be able to talk by skype at this time but if yes ewa.milowka - it's my SKYPE or may be we will talk with you thorugh the Radek's skype ;)
Regards :))
Okay, i have taken food out of the script =D
ReplyDeleteI will upload it here tonight. (I have got to go to work in 20 minutes)
Thank You everyone for getting me your songs, they are all great. I will start work on them straight away.
Regarding Podcast 2 - I will have a think about ideas over the weekend, if everyone else could do the same that would be great.
As I mentioned in my Personal Profile, my friend and I run a online radio station at night and weekend. I will upload a recording of one of our shows here in the week. It might give you an idea of what podcast 2 is going to be like =D
Thanks
Dale, I uploaded my song in better quality (320 kb/s mp3). http://www.box.net/shared/0bo6tlie09
ReplyDeleteThat video was just for preview purposes, because it sounds terrible and is not suitable for mixing and re-compressing (heavy compression artifacts are clearly audible and that annoys me a lot).
Regards :)
Hi Everyone,
ReplyDeleteHere is the script that i have created for Podcast 1 -
http://www.box.net/shared/rube837722
You will have to download the file in order to view it properly (the times and lines dont line up in the preview for some reason)
You will see that i have added a watermark saying 'Draft' this is because i can still edit the script if any of you have any better ideas =D
I have given everyone a colour so that its easy to recognise when you speak.
You will notice that the podcast is 12 mins long, thats 2 mins over our 10 mins target, but i think we can make up for this in post production (Editing it afterwards)
Please let me know what you think.
Ugis, please add what you want to say about 'places' in podcast 1. Also thanks for the song, i will get to work on them =)
Regards
great song selection everybody!

Thanks for the songs everyone. I am working on them as I type this :)
ReplyDeleteAlmost 1 week till Athens!
hello everyone!
ReplyDeleteAre we going to talk about 'working possibilities' and out future plans in the second podcast... if yes please write sth on this topic! Or only agree! :))
Dale, how do you see podcast 2?? ;> I think it won't be only song and sb. say sth, another song and sb. I would like sb. be a main speaker... I remember Alexandros wanted to be :) And this podcast should look like a small conversation, natural conversation, not only perused fragment of the text ;)
Regards xD
I can't wait to feel the greek sun! I'm getting bored and annoyed with rainy days this spring in Poland ;]]
yes i agree...so i thing everyone must prepare one small part about the subject...
ReplyDeletei can be the host if there isn;t a problem..yes :)
greek sun can't wait to see you ....
Hello :P
ReplyDeleteI want you to be the host, Alexandros... ;)
May be you should ask us some questions?? What do you think of that? If you agree with me, please make up some questions... and we will answer you :)) It will be easier for us to write sth...
Take care :))
Hi All,
ReplyDeleteI am a little confused about the second podcast. So many ideas have been mentioned. Ewa or Alejandro could you please say what you have in mind for the second podcast and how it will work.
Alejandro, if you want to be the main speaker thats great. Because you will be saying the most in the podcast i think you should write the script for it, is this okay with you? Obviously if you need any help you can ask =D
8 Days till Athens :-)
Hi eveyone,
ReplyDeletePhew, nearly finished 2nd year of course and then Athens gets my full attention. Is there anything I can help with in the meantime?
Hello team.
ReplyDeleteWe have a problem :). The time is running and we don't have a TeamName :) . Please come with some suggestions and ideas, how would you like to call ? Funny, Seriously ... I come up with an idea : let's combine our initials names. probably will get something nice with this. any ideas ? :)
Greets!
Mihaita, i think the team name is the least of our worries. It's not really important. We still need to get ideas and plan Podcast 2. Do you or anyone else have any ideas about Podcast 2?
ReplyDeleteOnly 1 week till Athens
p.s. Me and Chris fly to Athens on Sunday (30th May) at 7am. So after that i don't know if i am going to be able to keep in touch with you on the blog.
Regards
That means we need to choose and post our ideas as quick as possible.
ReplyDeleteAbout the team name , I think it would be better if everyone will post one or two ideeas and after that we'll vote the best one.
i agree with dale..
ReplyDeleteunfortunately this is an exams period for me ...However i can find some time for the script
So everyone should speak let's say about a minute about the working possibilities and worries and an other minute to hear their song...
If we are 7 people 15 minutes as i think is our limit for podcast 2 is ok. If i am going to be the host that means that i am going to ask you in a form of a radio show some questions that we should find before your arrival ...
what do you thing?
Hello.
ReplyDeleteDale, I made some changes in my text and added the part about place. Here is the updated podcast 1 script
http://www.box.net/shared/jyskih2ad1
I hope you don't mind that I didn't post the text here, but instead made changes to the document.
Alejandro, all sounds good in your plan for podcast 2. Can you post some questions you are going to ask so we can think about our answers?
Regards :)
Hello everyone :)
ReplyDeleteI;m sorry I haven't written for so long, but I had some exams and some homeworks ;)
I agree with you guys, Dale&Alexandros.
Welcome on the blog Paul! Write sth about special holiday, place in you country which you like the most.
to the 2 podcast:
Poland is a gateway to Eastern Europe, opening up new markets and offering opportunities not only for its citizens, but also for the other EU newcomers. Major industries are beverages, food processing, chemicals, banking, construction and telecommunication services. Recently there are a growing areas like IT, finance, business services, management, transportation services, education, banking and tourism.Unemployment amongst young people is a serious problem in Polish society. Finding a job directly after graduation is not easy. A lot of graduates, even from the best universities, have difficulties in finding a good job. Graduates have to work part-time or temporarily and do not have a strong chance to start a career in finance, banking or accountancy sectors. A lot of Polish graduates come to the UK to work in pubs or restaurants, as they get a better salary. But there are chances of getting a good job, by trying to improve our qualifications and experience. There is work for people with knowledge of foreign languages, logistics, direct marketing, telecommunications and computer science, particularly for specialists able to program networks. The employers in this sector are willing to recruit anyone regardless of nationality. There are opportunities for senior level people with foreign language, equipped with IT skills and an understanding of EU regulations.
That's all from me...
Alexandros, I think you should say sth in the bigining, for ex. "Today we will talk about job possibilities and worries in some countries. This is really seroius problem among young people who have just gratuated. How does the situation look like in GB, Dale?"
or f.ex. "i've heard that in Poland there are some problems with finding a job, isn't it. Tell us sth. about this Ewa."
What do you think of that?
Regards ;))
well i think tat is ecxellent!! that's excactly what i was thinking of...so if evryone can post sth like ewa's post that would help me a lot...
ReplyDeletefor dale, ewa and my beginning we can keep the things that you ve proposed ewa...about the rest i want to read everyone's post in order to make the questions

Hello everyone !
ReplyDeletefor the 2nd podcast :
Due the geographical position, Romania benefit of Mountains, Danube and Seaside. Having all these forms of relief, Romania has, also working possibilities. Many people are waiting for winter and summer, because in these seasons they can find easier to work as bartender or waiter on a cottage or restaurant. But these are only temporarily jobs, if you need a permanent one I think you should try in main industries like IT, banking, food, construction, petroleum refining, wood processing, mining and tourism. But now, is getting from bad to worse, due this economic crisis a lot of people were fired so they left in other country hoping at a job and a better salary, because in Romania becomes harder to find one.
2 days until Athens !
Regards!

Ila,
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if we are still using this thread for Romania communication?
There has been a new thread set up, this is called 'VIDEO PRODUCTION ROMANIA' although nobody has posted there.
Maybe we need to get in touch with tutors in order to get the students back on the blog?

Dale
